The agreement was signed for the exploration and production division
Mexican state-owned oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and Anglo-Dutch company Shell, a specialist in natural gas and petrochemicals, signed a collaboration agreement for scientific and technological research, according to official sources.
Through a press release, Pemex announced that its Exploration and Production division signed the "Joint Study Document", of a non-commercial nature, within the framework of the general collaboration agreement it signed with Shell in July 2004.
Jesús Reyes Heroles, CEO of Pemex, expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the agreement, which includes the development of studies that will allow the exchange of experiences, knowledge and best practices between both companies.
"It will also allow us to analyze the feasibility of applying specialized technologies in areas such as reservoir characterization, increases in the oil recovery factor and in well productivity," the agency said in the statement.
Shell is the main partner in Mexico and Latin America's first liquefied natural gas regasification terminal, located in Altamira, in the state of Tamaulipas (northeast).
