Pere Navarro highlights BNEW's contribution to global economic recovery

The Free Trade Zone Consortium has kicked off the first major international hybrid event through a press conference in a totally innovative format.

El Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB) has given the starting signal to the BNEW – Barcelona New EconomyWeek, hybrid event, B2B -100% professional- with a marked international character. At the press conference, the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, has highlighted how BNEW will contribute to the global economic recovery, bringing together more than 8.000 participants from around the world from five key sectors such as logistics, real estate, eCommerce, digital industry and economic zones. 90% of them will follow all the content online, through a platform created specifically for the event and in which interaction between participants will also be encouraged.

The press conference was a preview of the innovative, televised and spectacular format that the BNEW. Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the CZFB, and Blanca Sorigué, general director of the entity, addressed journalists through holograms broadcast live and, subsequently, appeared in the room to answer questions. An example of what will be BNEW with the participation of in-person speakers and experts from all over the world connected online.

The session has been broadcast live through the BNEW platform, offering the opportunity to follow it from all over the world. All of this took place in Barcelona, at the headquarters of Lightsound, the BNEW audiovisual provider that has extensive experience in the sector and especially in innovative and impactful formats.

The institutions have valued this initiative very positively, which will be the first step to analyze the challenges and opportunities that the post-covid scene will present and, in addition, will position Barcelona as the world capital of the new economy. For this reason, the event has the institutional support of the three main institutions: the Government of Spain, the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council.

Pere Navarro highlights that “it is very important for us to have the support of the institutions. In times of such uncertainty as the current one, it is more important than ever to work together so that the economic recovery occurs as soon as possible and ensure that we are well prepared to face it.”

Employment and public-private collaboration

The event, in addition to working to reactivate the economy, has also been an initiative that has already generated 140 direct jobs and 550 more indirectly.

Likewise, BNEW It has had a budget of 2 million euros for its organization and celebration. However, this first edition is already economically sustainable thanks to public-private collaboration. The event has 36 sponsoring companies and 52 agreements with sectoral clusters on a global scale.

During the four days of the BNEW A total of 160 hours of content will be generated that can be followed from anywhere in the world through the platform where participants will connect to the event. In addition, the 358 top-level speakers that BNEW will have will provide a global vision of the current situation and how to face the coming months, key in the development of the new economy.

Blanca Sorigué, general director of the CZFB, points out that “BNEW is not a conference panel, but an event where professionals and companies will be able to interact through the powerful networking technological platform.” “The important international presence fills us with pride and confirms that the economic world was waiting an event like this in the current context,” concludes Sorigué.
