The Aragonese Institute for Development organized a workshop to support the internationalization of Aragonese businesses, with the participation of regional and national institutions involved in foreign trade programs. The Ministry of Economy, CESCE, ICEX, ICO, and others presented the opportunities and support they offer to Aragonese entrepreneurs.
The opening of this conference, dedicated to the programs and support available to Aragonese businesses for exporting their products, was led by Manuel Teruel, president of the Regional Council of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Aragon. Teruel stated that many companies have not yet begun the internationalization process, yet exporting means increasing revenue and competitiveness.
In the center, Manuel Teruel, president of the Regional Council of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Aragon, to his right Daniel Gonzalez, head of the International Area of the General Directorate of SME Policy, and to his left, Enrique Asenjo of CESCE.
During the event, the Aragon Internationalization Coordination Plan 2003 (PCI) was also presented. This plan involves the Government of Aragon, SIPCA, IAF, ICEX, and the business organizations CREA and CEPYME-Aragon, as well as the three Aragonese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. One key aspect of the plan is the Eastern Europe Expansion Plan. The program recognizes the demand for information about these countries for exporting products. Therefore, this year, five practical business guides will be published, several trade missions will be organized, and technical market analysis workshops will be held. All of these activities will be coordinated through the trade office in Poland operated by the Aragonese Trade Promotion Society (SIPCA).
But the PCI's focus is not solely on Eastern European countries. Other direct missions will also be undertaken: four in Europe, four in Africa and the Middle East, five in the Americas, and one in Asia. Furthermore, among the various activities promoted by the Plan, the PIPE 2000-EXPORTA program stands out. Developed by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, and, in this case, the Government of Aragon, it has a budget of €1.300.000 for 2003, which will continue to support the entry of SMEs in the region into exporting.
The Aragon Internationalization Coordination Plan 2003 foresees trade missions to Eastern European countries, as well as to Africa, the Middle East…
During the day, several people mentioned the Foreign Promotion Initiation Plan, although others focused on the Self-Diagnosis Plan, such as Daniel González, head of the International Area of the General Directorate of SME Policy of the Ministry of Economy, or on the protection of the risk of collection, such as Enrique Asenjo of CESCE.
The closing remarks were delivered by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Development of the Government of Aragon, Arturo Aliaga, who emphasized that "the importance of internationalization is key to the development of Aragon, since the weight of foreign trade on the total Gross Domestic Product has increased in 15 years from 20% to more than 60%, which confirms the progressive opening of the Community to the world, with export forecasts exceeding 5.500 billion euros."
