Andalucía TRADE has organized the participation of port authorities and Andalusian companies in the tenth edition of Logismed, International Logistics and Transport Exhibition for Africa and the Mediterranean, which was held from June 13 to 15, in Casablanca before 3.850 international professionals in the sector. At this event, the Andalusian delegation was able to hold up to 400 business meetings with the aim of establishing new commercial synergies with the main agents in the world's logistics sector.
Logistics and port activity is key in the foreign sector of Andalucía, to the point that the community closed 2022 as the national leader in maritime exports in tons, with 27,3 million, and second in sales value, with the historical record of 21.501 million euros, which represents 16,9 % of the national total and a great growth of 24,8% over 2021. With these data, Andalusia is the community that contributes the most to national growth (+4,1%), so that Spain advances 21,8% to 126.942 million euros in maritime exports in 2022, three points less than Andalusia.
The exceptional geostrategic position of Andalusia is reflected in the weight that maritime transport has in its overall foreign trade, to the point that just half of Andalusian exports (50%) leave by sea, through its ports ( 21.501 million euros out of a total of 42.958 million). Most of this trade by sea is channeled by the Port of Algeciras, geostrategic point on the world route that runs through the Strait of Gibraltar, the second busiest maritime trade in the world, as it concentrates 20% of international sales.
According to reports from Andalucía TRADE, 80% of world trade is carried out by sea, so the community inevitably has an exceptional connection with the flows of goods between Europe and the North of Africa. In that sense, TangerMed and the Port of Algeciras They become two world-class logistics hubs, which act as the epicenter of international trade relations, allowing synergies to be established throughout the world, and especially with Morocco, due to its proximity.
With this favorable context, Andalusia has participated in Logismed, which has had a total of 82 exhibitors, of which 20% have been international agents, and has received 3.850 visitors, 10,7% more than in the previous edition, according to the fair organization. In addition, the event hosted more than 40 top-level conferences where experts debated the international logistics ecosystem under the theme chosen for this year, the omnichannel.
The Agency for Economic Transformation and Development completes with this action the boost to Andalusian logistics planned by the Andalusian government, who already works in a Port Coordination and Export Promotion Plan, and which seeks to make the most of the potential of the ports of Andalusia as strategic axes of the Andalusian economy.
Logismed is organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, in collaboration with the Moroccan Logistics Development Agency (AMDL). On the other hand, it is worth noting that this sector in Morocco has experienced growth of 3,8% annually between 2010 and 2021, and is destined to continue growing, since the country implements the National Strategy for the Development of Logistics Competitiveness. with strong investments in highways, roads and the port sector, and privatizations in the air and railway sectors.

Andalusian ports: 400 business meetings
Until the tenth edition of Logismed they have moved: the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz, represented by its president Teófila Martínez; Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras; the Port Authority of Seville; the Port of Huelva; the Port of Motril (Granada), also represented by its president, José García; and the Malaga Port Foundation (Málaga Port), a company associated with the Malaga port that was attended by its president, Carlos Rubio; The company International Project Cargo-IP Cargo of Malaga also participated.
Likewise, each port authority has had the possibility of inviting associated companies, and in this way, the port of Algeciras has attended together with six firms: Algetransit, De Castro Gabinete Jurídico, 365 Marine Logistic, Marítima del Estrecho de Aduanas, Mertramar Mar Algeciras and Tramarco. Likewise, Puerto Motril has invited two companies, Hub Place and UTE PIF Motril; and the Malaga firms Noatum Terminal and Noatum Automotive have also traveled to the fair through Málaga Port.
New actions from Andalucía Trade
Likewise, for 2023, the agency has scheduled to date more than a dozen promotional actions in key markets for the diversification of exports, such as trade missions to Brazil, Chile, Dominican Republic and Australia.
Finally, and until the end of the year, Andalusia plans to carry out a reverse mission in Cádiz with logistics operators from Mexico, direct commercial missions to Peru and the United Kingdom; and a webinar on the opportunities of the sector in Brazil.
Andalusia leader in maritime exports
In 2022, Andalucía It is the leader in maritime exports in tons, with 27,3 million tons, which represents 26,9% of Spain (101 million tons), and is second in terms of sales value, with 21.501 million, a record record. historical figure, which represents 16,9% of the national total and a great growth of +24,8% over 2021. In this way, it is confirmed that the community is also the one that contributes the most to the growth of Spanish exports, 4,1 % so that Spain advances +21,8% to 126.942 million euros.
For their part, maritime exports are growing in eight of the top ten markets, which are highly diversified, reaching four continents with their top ten destinations. The leading market is United States, with 3.100 million, 14,4% of the total and an increase of 65%, and it is the second that grows the most; followed by Morocco, with 1.994 million, 9,3% and an increase of 21,9%; and Italy, with 1.799 million, 8,4% and an increase of 34%. Fourthly, there is China, with 1.542 million (7,2%) and an increase of 13,3%; followed by Netherlands, with 960 million euros (4,5%) and the highest growth of the top ten markets, with an increase of 78%.
In 2022, seven of the top ten chapters exported by sea will grow by double digits. The first in sales are fuels and mineral oils, with 7.153 million, 33% of the total and an increase of 42%, the third best among the first 10 chapters; followed by chemical products, with 1.935 million, 9% and an increase of 46%, the second best in the Top 10; and minerals, with 1.724 million (8%) and an increase of 14,4%. It is followed by olive oil, with the record figure of 1.684 million, 7,8% and an increase of 31%; and in fifth place, copper and its manufactures, with 970 million euros (4,5%) and a decrease of 18,9%.
