Proexport co-organizes the 7th edition of the Biofruit Congress at Fruit Attraction

The Association of Producers-Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables of the Region of Murcia (Proexport) co-organizes, for the seventh consecutive year, the Biofruit Congress, the most important international forum on organic fruit and vegetable production, which will take place on October 8 and 9 within the framework of the fair Fruit Attraction at IFEMA Madrid.

Fernando P. Gomez Molina, director of Proexport, highlighted the importance of the congress to advance key issues in the sector: “Professionals in international production and distribution will discuss advances in organic production, sustainability in agriculture, its trends and how to provide more value to consumers and society.”

One of the most anticipated round tables, entitled "Sustainability as a requirement in the markets", will feature the participation of María Dolores Molina, technical and environmental manager of Proexport. Molina will share her experience on sustainable agricultural practices in organic production in Spain. Alongside her, Alexandra Fanos, from the German chain Naturkost, and Carla Van Esso, from the Spanish Veritas, will contribute their vision from the distribution point of view. He will also participate Aurelio del Pino, president of ACES, whose association represents 16% of food trade in Spain.

The conference will also address other topics of great interest, such as regulatory challenges in organic production, solutions within the framework of the green pact, the use of biostimulants and biocontrol, and biomaterials in the agri-food sector.

Ecovalia's 2024 annual report indicates that Spain reached €3.000 billion in the organic market in 2023, consolidating its position in the world's top 10. "There is a significant environmental and social commitment from farmers and agricultural companies, which is not yet fully appreciated by society, and it is necessary for everyone to recognize its value," stated Gómez, who emphasized that current production is the most sustainable in history in environmental terms.
