The Port of Cartagena seeks to consolidate its position as a LNG Supply Hub at the Barcelona Global Forum.

"We are here to show the world the advantages that the Port of Cartagena offers as a reliable and efficient partner in the LNG supply chain," Gómez stated in an interview with this publication. "Our LNG terminal, just two years old, is equipped to simultaneously receive two of the largest LNG carriers in the world, which underscores our capacity and operational efficiency."

 

La LNG Terminal, strategically located on the pier Prince Felipe The Escombreras basin is a fundamental pillar of the port's strategy. Its berthing line, extended to 211 meters, facilitates and streamlines loading and unloading operations, allowing for simultaneous operations, a crucial factor in optimizing times and reducing costs for shipping companies. The terminal has five storage tanks, achieving a total capacity of 587.000 cubic meters of LNG, and an impressive emission capacity of 1.350.000 cubic meters (normal) per hour.

"It's a fuel that not only improves operational efficiency but also significantly contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions, aligning with global sustainability goals. Its use is expanding rapidly, from powering trucks and trains to becoming the preferred fuel for new ships, especially cruise ships."

 

The Port of Cartagena's track record in the LNG supply sector is a testament to its pioneering vision. Collaboration with leading companies in the sector such as Repsol and Enagás This has allowed the port to position itself as one of the first in Europe to supply LNG to ships from a regasification plant.
