Wind and solar energy are particularly relevant, having grown from a few hundred MW/year to over 17,000 MW between 2018 and 2020. With over 2.500 hours of sunshine per year and an average annual total solar radiation of approximately 230-250 kcal/cm², the southward expansion is favorable for the advancement of solar technology. For its part, the Indonesian government has set a series of objectives that promote greater use of renewable energy and, in recent years, has been facilitating foreign investment, especially in PPP projects. Furthermore, the main objective of the National Energy Policy, is clearly committed to prioritizing renewable energy and "new energy sources," with the goal of accounting for 31% of total consumption by 2050.
