Intel's third-quarter results, with profits 43 percent higher than a year ago, demonstrate that "the web is now a fundamental part of our lives," said Norberto Mateos, director of the public sector at Intel Spain, today.
He explained that these global profits have been supported by record revenue, with 10.090 billion euros, 15 percent more in the third quarter, which has led to an upward revision of the expectations set in September.
In Europe, a similar and even greater growth situation has occurred, since Europe, which represents 18 percent of the total market, grew by 18,5 percent.
The worldwide growth, Mateos said, is due to the "increasing and consistent" widespread demand for Intel products.
In the first nine months of the year, he said, it has sold three million quad-core processors, two million of which were in the third quarter of the year, and the company already has 20 different quad-core products.
In servers there was a record number of units, the increase was also evident in mobility where the laptop market grew by 30 percent in the nine months while the desktop market, whose prices were falling in previous quarters, increased revenue and average prices for the products that Intel introduces in these devices
The Intel executive pointed out that in Spain the company's growth is driven by the increase in the home and mobile market, where laptops already account for more than 50 percent of PC sales and that in August alone they grew by 68 percent compared to the previous year.
The multinational is optimistic for the coming quarters because it continues to evolve its technologies with the 32-nanometer generation and new architectures.
