The Catalan company's turnover is approaching 600 million euros
The Catalan manufacturer of waste treatment equipment Ros Roca has acquired a stake in the Brazilian company Usimeca, its first operation in Latin America, where it already exports its products.
The company has declined to disclose the percentage it has purchased in Usimeca and has simply stated that its representation on the board of directors "will be equal" with the other shareholder.
According to a statement released by the company, this operation will allow entry not only into the South American market, but also into Central and North America, where Usimeca is already established, with market shares of 65% in Brazil and 30% in the rest of the continent.
Ros Roca has declined to disclose the price of the transaction or the percentage it has purchased in Usimeca, although a company spokesperson has said that the management of the company will be done in an "equal" manner.
This agreement adds to the acquisition of the English firm Dennis Eagle that the company based in TÃrrega (Lleida) made last year, making it the world's leading manufacturer and supplier of environmental equipment.
The Catalan company operates in three main areas: collection and cleaning equipment, treatment plants and pneumatic collection, and has industrial facilities in Germany, England, France and Portugal. Before the purchase of this stake in the Brazilian company, Ros Roca Group's turnover was close to 600 million euros.
Usimeca, founded in 1920, is a family-owned company headquartered in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and also operates in Africa and the Middle East, as well as in the rest of the Americas.
