Sacyr Concessions has completed a sustainable financing historic investment of 3,66 billion Colombian pesos (approximately 780 million euros) for the development of the strategic road corridor that connects the port of Buenaventura and Buga, in the Cauca ValleyThis project, crucial to the region's economy, not only seeks to improve transportation infrastructure, but also sets a precedent in the use of capital with environmental and social objectives.
The financing, structured and led by JP Morgan, has the participation of several major financial institutions, both multilateral and local, including IDB Invest, IFC, Bancolombia, BBVA, FDN and Bancoldex. The agreement is part of the Sacyr Sustainable Financing Framework, which is aligned with the highest international standards. The company has integrated indicators that measure the reduction of polluting gases and hiring of women in the areas of influence of the corridor, thus reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development.
Sacyr's strategic ambition for 2033 is to become a world leader in the development of concessions under a public-private partnership model.
Sacyr Concessions' total investment in this project amounts to 4 billion pesos (approximately US$904 million), earmarked for road improvements and its operation and maintenance for 29 years. The 128-kilometer corridor includes the construction of 35 kilometers of new dual carriageway, the rehabilitation of 155 kilometers of existing road, and the commissioning of 17 tunnels.
This project, managed by the concessionaire Pacific Road Union, 100% owned by Sacyr Concesiones, promises to generate more than 6.000 jobs direct, indirect, and induced. Furthermore, corridor users are expected to reduce their travel time by approximately half an hour, significantly improving safety and comfort.
The Buenaventura-Buga highway corridor is the fifth highway Sacyr has developed in Colombia, a country where the company is also involved in other large-scale projects such as the Puerta de Hierro Highway and the Recovery of Degraded Ecosystems in the Canal del Dique.
The value of Sacyr's concession assets has shown sustained growth, reaching €3.957 billion, underscoring the solidity of its business model. The company aims to reach a valuation of €5.100 billion by 2027, in line with its ambitious Strategic Plan.
