SanLucar strengthens its position in France with the acquisition of a stake in Buonanno

SanLucar has made a significant investment in France by acquiring a significant stake in Happy New Year, a well-established importer and exporter of fresh fruits and vegetables with over 50 years of experience. The French company specializes in vegetables such as eggplant, peppers, and zucchini, and also offers a wide range of fresh produce, including lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, and tomatoes.

The strategic acquisition will allow SanLucar to establish a key physical presence in perpignan, taking advantage of Buonanno's warehouse and experienced team. Armin Rehberg, CEO of SanLucarHe highlighted the importance of this alliance: “Thanks to Buonanno’s warehouse and its experienced team in France, this new strategic alliance allows us to have a physical presence in the country, specifically in Perpignan. The products and concepts of our premium brand SanLucar will thus expand into the French market, in addition to increasing our business with the French retailer under its own brands. The entire range of SanLucar’s international production will be available for the French market. Furthermore, we will use Buonanno’s cross-docking platform for our French production and for our business in the south, exporting to other countries.”

This transaction positions SanLucar at the heart of the third largest European fruit and vegetable market by volume and the first in value, laying the foundation for exponential growth in the neighboring country.

The local management of this ambitious project will be in charge of Fabien Lefebvre, who will assume the role of director of Business Development in France and CEO of Buonanno. He will have the support of SanLucar's International Markets team from the company's headquarters. For his part, Philippe Arroyo will continue as president of the French firm during a transition phase that will extend at least until the end of the year.

Rehberg emphasized the potential of this collaboration to strengthen SanLucar's position in the European market and achieve its ambitious growth objectives. “We are excited about the opportunities this collaboration will bring and are confident that it will reinforce our position in the European market, contributing to the achievement of our ambitious growth goals. With this acquisition and the strategic logistics center, we are laying the foundation for continued growth in a key European market. The new cross-docking platform gives us the opportunity to be less than a day away from Spain, Portugal and Italy"We are located two days from Morocco and are able to deliver to any point in France in less than 24 hours," the CEO stated.

The new logistics center already has essential certifications such as IFS, Ecocert and GlobalG.AP, guaranteeing the highest standards of quality and sustainability. The characteristic Premium presentation of SanLucar products at the point of sale will also be replicated in the French market.
