During the days of October 24, 25 and 26, and organized by the Valencian Institute of Export (IVEX), REDIVEX 2001 was held at the facilities of the Valencia Fair.
REDIVEX 2001 once again brought together in Valencia all the delegates of the IVEX foreign network who, with great experience in international markets, offered practical information and advice through personal interviews with those companies that requested it.
IVEX is the Valencian Government's instrument for the internationalization of companies in that Community and its objective is, in the words of its director, Carmen de Miguel, "to make available to companies all the support instruments available so that they can undertake their processes of opening and consolidating abroad with the greatest possible guarantees."
This is not the first time REDIVEX has been held, and the success of last year's edition, in which more than 500 companies participated and more than 1300 individual interviews were conducted, has prompted the celebration of this new forum, expanded in terms of content and participating organizations.
Carmen de Miguel pointed out that the objective of REDIVEX is "to create a true forum for internationalization. We have involved the other organizations with responsibilities in foreign trade. The idea is that companies can find, in a single physical space, advice and information on all the support programs for each of the phases of the internationalization process, as well as information on international markets."
Today, internationalization is accepted as a necessity and as a competitive weapon for companies in an economic scenario where competition takes place on an international scale.
The globalization of the economy represents an opportunity for businesses to establish a stable presence in international markets.
In addition, the importance of electronic commerce and the characteristics of the Chinese market were discussed at REDIVEX 2001.
Under the title "Quality, design and innovation as factors of competitiveness for internationalization", Rafael Benavent, President of Gres de Nules/Keraben, reviewed the characteristics of the tile sector of the Valencian Community and the challenges posed by the globalization of the economy and highlighted the growth of this sector which has become a leader in a few years.
According to the company's president, the keys to this growth lie in quality, design and innovation, investment in continuous training, and also in attention to the environment and business ethics.
As challenges for this sector, Rafael Benavent pointed to business concentration in the face of economic globalization, and the importance of continuous training of human resources.
"The electronic economy and international trade" was the title chosen by José Manuel Desco to defend the need for companies to adopt new technologies as part of their process, in an economic scenario where there are no trade barriers or borders.
Desco also advocated for overcoming a certain way of doing business and the need for a greater presence in the e-economy, which offers many benefits to exporting companies given the elimination of physical and geographical barriers through virtual support.
On the other hand, as future challenges, Desco pointed to the company's solid positioning in the face of new technologies to take advantage of its strengths, understand the competition and choose a defined strategy.
In this regard, he recommended developing a new working model that leads to a solid company presence in the e-economy, going beyond the mere creation of a website, as well as abandoning the idea that limits e-commerce to selling through the internet.
For his part, Alberto Maestre, Export Director of Fermax Electrónica, shared the positive experiences of this Valencian company in the Asian market, where it has been established since 1997 with a production center in Shanghai. He recommended a great deal of patience to achieve results and, above all, learning how things are done in this market, given the cultural differences. In this regard, Maestre advised against considering China as a single country due to the internal diversity among its various provinces, each with its own unique characteristics.
