SERNAUTO lowers its revenue and employment forecasts for 2025 due to falling production.

 

The complex situation faced by companies in the automotive components sector in Spain has motivated the Board of Directors of SERNAUTO adjust your expectations for this year. Meeting recently at the Larrinaga Palace in Zaragoza, under the new presidency of Javier Pujol, the suppliers expressed their deep concern in a scenario marked by uncertainty and the low profitability of the large investments made in recent years for the electrification, whose demand in the European market is not responding as expected.

 

Automotive suppliers are a fundamental pillar of the Spanish industry, generating more than 325.000 direct and indirect jobsThe projected decline, with a 2% drop in turnover and a 1% drop in employment compared to 2024, marks the second consecutive year of decline in overall sector figures.

 

Given this situation, the Board of Directors has urged the Government of Spain to immediately activate the Auto Plan 2030, an initiative promoted by Anfac with the support of the Ministry of Industry, which must include concrete and firm measures to support the industry at this critical time.

 

The sector, which represents 75% of vehicle value, faces its second consecutive year of decline in total figures due to uncertainty and lower production volumes in Europe, aggravated by the slow adoption of electrification technology.

 

 

The president of SERNAUTO, Javier Pujol, highlighted the strategic importance of the sector: “In Spain, we have a world-leading automotive industry that we cannot afford to lose. We are the ninth largest producer worldwide, thanks, among other things, to our strong automotive components industry. We're talking about stable, quality jobs spread across Spain; but, above all, a future.".

 

Pujol also emphasized the need for institutional support in the face of European inaction: “Given the inaction of the European institutions, in Spain we must support automotive suppliers so that they continue to innovate in our country, remaining competitive in attracting new industrial and innovation projects from other regions that we need to take root here to generate that technological differentiation that is so important at a time of maximum competition.”. He stressed that this support translates directly into “maintain jobs and well-being".

 

New Vice Presidents and Strategy Committee

 

During the meeting, the association's new vice presidents were also elected, a term that will coincide with Javier Pujol's. They were ratified. Ricardo Olalla (Vice President of Sales for Mobility Solutions at Bosch Spain), Benito Tesier (CEO of Brembo) and Mireia Arroyo (Corporate Director of Institutional Relations, Communications, and Marketing at Gestamp). They will contribute their experience to the board from their respective areas of expertise.

 

Javier Pujol expressed his confidence in the new team: “We have a Board of Directors with enormous talent and we want to take advantage of it even more to promote the different areas and projects that we have in the association.”. He also announced the creation of a Strategy Committee for the development of strategic plan 2026-2028, ensuring that the concerns of associates will be taken into account strengthen its competitiveness.

 

Finally, it was ratified Monica Alegre, commercial director of Industrias Alegre, as the new president of the Construction Industry Commission. This commission, which brings together nearly 40 suppliers, is key to analyzing market trends and vehicle production forecasts in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, essential elements for defining business strategies. Mercedes Pujol's work during the previous term was also acknowledged. She was recently appointed CEO of North America.
