HM the King highlights the support that the Chamber of Spain provides to companies to improve their competitiveness and initiate their internationalization

Extraordinary Plenary Session of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce

Regarding the work of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce throughout its eight years of existence, the King highlighted its contribution to the business sector: "it has helped nearly one million SMEs."


 

" Chamber of Spain is a key institution for the structure of Spain thanks, fundamentally, to the capillarity of the chamber system, in which it acts as representative, coordinator and promoter of the 85 territorial chambers and 44 present abroad, always in collaboration with the Public Administration”, this is how it has been expressed HM the King during the Extraordinary Plenary Session that the institution has celebrated and in which the future strategic lines of work for the next four years have been specified.

 

During the closing speech of the event, the monarch also wanted to “personally thank” José Luis Bonet, president of the Chamber of Spain, his “delivery on behalf of all those people who get up every day to work in their respective organizations”, people who, for the monarch, “generate employment and wealth in our country” and on whom “the well-being of our society depends . Because if there are companies, there is work and there is employment.”

 

Regarding the work of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce throughout its eight years of existence, the King has pointed out its contribution to the business fabric and especially to the SMEs, “nearly one million SMEs have been helped to improve their competitiveness through the Chamber's activities, such as training and digitalization, and to begin its international projection".

 

The first vice president and minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, has highlighted the importance of public-private cooperation in the face of current challenges and the weight of Next Generation European funds in the transformation of the economy. Calviño explained that there are already “23.300 billion euros in calls and 20.600 billion euros transferred to communities and city councils,” which “guarantee an unprecedented flow of public investment in our country.”

 

The president of the Chamber of Spain has reviewed the strategic objectives for the third term that begins: “digitalization, training, sustainability, internationalization, entrepreneurship, institutional defense and consolidation of the cameral system”

 

The First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation has pointed out the strengths of the Spanish economy that arouse confidence: “we have a roadmap, we have tackled an important modernization process, we have the support of European funds, physical infrastructures and of knowledge, large and driving leading companies, and we have an ecosystem of SMEs that have the capacity to adapt, that join the green and digital economy, and that compete without complexes in the world thanks to digitalization. “In the face of challenges there are always opportunities that we must take advantage of and that is why it is important to move forward in a coordinated manner,” said Calviño.

 

For his part, the president of the Chamber of Spain, José Luis Bonet, began his speech by thanking the King for his support and backing of Spanish companies through “his involvement, attention and support for the productive fabric”, and described it as “fundamental for promoting the international trajectory of our companies”.

 

The president of the Spanish Chamber has especially highlighted “the unprecedented opportunity that the Next Generation Funds” and the need to join forces to use those funds optimally. “This must be an objective for the entire country: the public and private sectors; of large companies and SMEs; of the chambers of commerce and business organizations," said the president of the Chamber of Spain, "now, more than ever, it is essential to go together."

 

José Luis Bonet has highlighted the work carried out by the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, as well as the entire network of territorial chambers and abroad, "as instruments of transformation of companies and, with them, of Spain as a whole", and has reviewed the strategic objectives for the third mandate that begins: digitalization , training, sustainability, internationalization, entrepreneurship, institutional defense and consolidation of the cameral system.

 

Furthermore, he recalled the work of Spanish Mediation Center and the International Arbitration Center of Madrid, organizations launched four years ago, with the support of the Chamber of Spain; and who join the work of the Spanish Court of Arbitration to provide companies with tools to resolve their disputes.

In the round table, moderated by the Secretary of State for Commerce, Xiana MendezLuis Isasi, first vice president of the Chamber of Spain, participated; Armando Martínez, CEO of Iberdrola; Angel Asensio, second vice president of the Chamber of Spain; and Eva Piera, president of the Internationalization commission of the Chamber of Spain. All of them have delved into the most relevant issues on which the work of the Spanish Chamber will focus in the next four years in order to boost the Spanish economy.
