Solar MEMS Technologies is a technology-based company, located in the Aerópolis Aerospace Park and founded as a spin-off of the Sevilla University. This innovative firm focuses its activity on the development of solar sensors for satellites and other high-tech industrial applications.
The degree of specialization of this technology has led to Solar MEMS to be the only Spanish company manufacturing this type of device and one of the most prominent in Europe. A success that has led it to market more than 2.000 solar sensors, which are currently flying on satellites around the world.
At present, Solar MEMS is immersed in the project Airbus Oneweb, which focuses on the manufacturing of a mega constellation made up of more than 650 satellites to provide global broadband internet coverage to places with less accessibility. In addition to Airbus, the Sevillian company has in its client portfolio the NASA, European Space Agency, Thales Alenia Space from Italy or Germany DLR, among others.
Solar MEMS has used different Extenda services in its internationalization process, such as trade missions to Canada and United States. “These trade missions allowed us to meet important players in the aerospace sector. The human and professional quality of the Extenda team is very high,” he assures. Tamara Guerrero, Director of Business Development at Solar MEMS Technologies.
The company's objectives are to grow in two lines of action. On the one hand, expand the portfolio of new products in the aerospace sector, through the development of new devices that use the earth or stars as a reference; and, on the other hand, diversify into other sectors such as renewable energies or the automotive industry.
