The meeting, which took place in BrasiliaMurtra's remarks served as an opportunity to highlight Brazil's strategic position for Telefónica, a market that represents the group's second-largest subsidiary by revenue, contributing 28% of its global total. The telco's president also emphasized the importance of investment and sustainability in local operations.

Telefónica has established itself as the largest European investor in Brazil, with cumulative investments exceeding R$560.000 billion (approximately €91.000 billion) since 1998. This influx of capital underscores the multinational's confidence in the nation's economic and digital potential.

 

In the context of the upcoming COP30 in Belém, Murtra highlighted Telefónica's commitment to the sustainable development of its business. The company operates in Brazil under the Vivo brand, which has been positioned as a benchmark in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) best practices.

Vivo is not only one of the country's most valuable brands, but also a driving force of employment, generating more than 33.000 direct jobs and nearly 100.000 indirect jobs. The operator has a vast customer base of more than 116 million and coverage that reaches 98% of the population across all mobile technologies.

 

In terms of infrastructure, Vivo leads the deployment of fiber optics, with a network that covers more than 30 million homes and already connects 7,4 million customers, facilitating the digitalization of homes and businesses throughout Brazil.
