Trafic opens with more than 20 presentations aimed at improving safety

It hosts 329 international companies

The international road safety exhibition "Trafic" opened its doors at Ifema with more than twenty presentations ranging from innovative passive protection systems for motorcyclists to innovative electronic equipment for traffic management and control.

The fair, which was inaugurated by the director of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), Pere Navarro, hosts 329 international companies that will exhibit the latest advances in road safety for five days in more than 7.000 square meters.

Speaking to the press, Navarro said that the Spanish road safety and highway equipment industry is among the world's leading industries in aspects related to traffic management and public works construction.

"Some recognition is due to the effort made, the competitiveness and high level of Spanish companies, both in public works and in traffic management technology," he added.

There have been about 24 product presentations by eleven companies, which have presented all kinds of proposals aimed at improving road safety and traffic management.

Some companies have presented at "Trafic" innovative systems for the passive protection of motorcyclists such as protectors for metal barriers, impact attenuators -in case of frontal collisions against concrete barriers- and lighting and signaling columns (made of fiberglass reinforced polyester that can reduce deaths by up to 40 percent).

Other passive safety features on display at the fair include anti-icing systems for roads, which operate using automatic sprinklers with smart sensors that continuously measure the environmental conditions and the ice on the road.

The "Trafic" range also includes eco-friendly options such as low-consumption traffic lights, which are made of polycarbonate with a futuristic and lightweight design, and whose average consumption is nine watts compared to 70 for traditional ones.

This range of signage is complemented by other interesting features such as pedestrian traffic lights that alternate between male and female figures, along with another new line of lights for tram use that aim to improve danger warnings.

Regarding traffic management, one firm brings together in a single device the latest in intelligent traffic light management to control all types of indicative signals - traffic lights, panels, or environmental sensors) through IP communications.

The fair also hosted the presentation of various types of radars, the newest being one that is "invisible and undetectable" by the different GPS systems because it does not emit a signal.

These radars are complemented by the availability of cameras that provide 95 percent reliability in photographing vehicles exceeding 200 km/h speed.

Another notable first is a system for detecting and tracking the transport of dangerous goods, which allows vehicles to be identified and classified according to the danger of the goods being transported.

The exhibition at "Trafic" also includes other curiosities such as high-visibility ecological paint, which has been manufactured with renewable raw materials and is characterized by its long lifespan and visibility.

Regarding parking management, some companies advocate for the implementation of a new system that allows users to make reservations and transfers of parking spaces via the internet or mobile phone.
