According to data from the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, in the first quarter of 2003, the United States invested $982,4 million in the Ukrainian economy, representing 17,5% of the total volume of foreign investment in the country.
The most attractive sectors for American investors are the food industry (14,9% of the total volume of US investments in Ukraine), the metallurgical industry (14,1%), wholesale trade and trade intermediation (11,9%).
In the first quarter of 2003, non-US residents invested $84,8 million in the Ukrainian economy, 2,4 times more than in the first quarter of 2002. Since the beginning of this year, the volume of investments has grown by 9,5%.
