UKRAINE Opel will manufacture the Vectra, Astra and Corsa models in Ukraine

German automaker Opel has signed an agreement with two Ukrainian companies for the production and distribution of the Vectra, Astra and Corsa models in that country, General Motors Europe reported.
Specifically, the Ukrainian company Zao Zaz will assemble the parts kits for these three models at the Zaporizhzhia plant, which will then be exported from other European countries. Production will reach 3.000 units by the end of this year and will increase in 2004 thanks to the expansion of production activities. Meanwhile, Opel's other Ukrainian partner, UkrAvtoZAZ, has been appointed the exclusive importer and distributor of the German automaker's vehicles, as well as its parts and components. This company will be responsible for restructuring and managing the brand's existing sales network in Ukraine.

Zao Zaz is Ukraine's leading car manufacturer, with 16.000 employees and industrial facilities in four cities across the country. UkrAvtoZAZ, meanwhile, is part of the country's largest vehicle distribution group, employing 40.000 people at its more than 400 locations.
