Taking advantage of the impetus for construction in that country
The Economy Delegate in Seville, Juan Borrego, presented the conference on a market in which infrastructure investments of €100.000 billion are planned by 2035.
A total of 34 professionals from around twenty companies in the construction have participated in the conferences'Business opportunities in the construction and infrastructure sectors in Sweden who have organized this Thursday, March 30, the Ministry of Economy and Knowledgethrough Extenda-Andalusian Foreign Promotion Agency, Together with Business Sweden, the Embassy of Sweden in Spain, Abbantia Abogados, CEACOP y FADECO Contractors at the headquarters of Extenda in Seville.
Through this event, which was inaugurated by the delegate of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment of the Regional Government in Seville, Juan Borrego; the honorary consul of Sweden in Seville, Carlos Montesa; the president of CEACOP, Ana Chacón; and the president of FADECO, Francisco CarmonaThe Swedish public administrations' investment plans for infrastructure construction and new housing over the coming years were presented to the developers, construction companies, and subcontractors attending.
The speakers also detailed effective sources of information on planned tenders and public procurement procedures in the Nordic country. Following the presentations, participants were offered the option of individual interviews with the speakers to obtain more detailed information.
Thus, during the event the specialized advisor in construction and infrastructure of Business Sweden, Sören Petterson, has outlined the current business opportunities in Sweden for companies in the construction sector; while the Business Development Manager of the Invest Stockholm Business Region, Erik Krüger, has announced investments of 95 BEUR to adapt to the needs of a growing population; and SABO's new construction manager, Jonas Högset, has analyzed the Swedish housing construction market and municipal companies.
The attendees were also able to hear the presentation by the Development Manager of Bostadsbolaget in Gothenburg, Anna Nordén, on 'How to achieve the construction of 6.000 new homes in Gothenburg by 2012'; as well as the presentation by the lawyer from Abbantia Law Firm, Charlotte Andersson, who spoke about tenders in Sweden and gave a practical example.
Construction boost in Sweden
According to data from Extenda, Sweden It is currently presented as a market of particular interest to Andalusian construction companies, as the Swedish government has set the goal of renewing its transportation networks through the current 2014-2025 Infrastructure Plan, which provides for an investment of more than €55.000 billion.
At the same time, the regions of Stockholm and Gothenburg, two of Europe's fastest-growing cities, plan to invest €95.000 billion by 2025 and €100.000 billion by 2035, respectively, in new housing and infrastructure construction.
In 2016, Andalusia exported goods to Sweden worth 218 million euros, representing a slight increase of 0,1% compared to 2015.
To develop these projects, Sweden is seeking partners among foreign construction and development companies willing to participate in upcoming tenders.
Particiapant enterprises
The companies that participated in the conferences to learn about the opportunities offered by the Swedish market for the construction sector come from Seville (Prodiel, Inabensa Installations, Ayesa, Catranslations, Fadeco, Patrimonial Pesan, Drops & Bubbles Technology, the Andalusian Institute of Technology, OHL, Milenio Insurance Brokerage, Caja de Ingenieros, Constructora San José, Magtel); Cadiz (Alesur, Faec, Activa and Comprehensive Maintenance Services, Torrecereña Construction); Jaen (Ofiteat, Juan Bueno and Co.); Granada (Construcciones Otero). Ikea Ibérica and the Portuguese company Living Comporta have also expressed interest in the workshops.
Last year 2016, Andalucía exported goods to Sweden valued at €218 million, representing a slight increase of 0,1% compared to 2015. Thus, Andalusia becomes Spain's fourth largest exporter to the Nordic country, accounting for 9,9% of national sales. The region has a trade surplus with Sweden of €45 million and a coverage rate of 126%, 26 points higher than the national average.
The provinces that export the most to the country are Almeria, which represents 40% of sales with 87 million euros and an increase of 10,3% over 2015; Cadiz, which accounts for 22,7% of exports with 49 million; and Malaga, which sold products to Sweden in 2016, worth 24,8 million, 11,4% of the total, an increase of 4,2% compared to the previous year.
On the other hand, the most exported products to Sweden from Andalucía Fresh vegetables and legumes account for 39% of total sales, representing €84 million; iron and steel smelting, with 19,1% of the total and an export turnover of €41 million; and fresh fruits and nuts, with €32 million, representing 14,5% of the total and a 12,6% increase compared to 2015.
These figures are based on the activity of the 386 companies that sold products to Sweden during 2016, 9,8% more than in 2015. Of these, 40% (155 companies, 6,4% more than in 2015) are regular exporters (exporting for more than four consecutive years), which account for 86% of total sales.
