Horti Fair 2007 will host more than 1.500 exhibitors from 51 countries
Andalusian horticulture companies are showcasing their products at Horti Fair 2007, Europe's leading gardening trade fair, which runs until October 12 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The region's participation is being organized by the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sport, through the Andalusian Agency for Foreign Promotion (Extenda).
Horti Fair is considered the leading continental trade fair dedicated to ornamental horticulture, gardening and floristry, and this year's edition will host more than 1.500 exhibitors from 51 countries.
The event, which received more than 50.000 visitors in 2006, is divided into two main areas: horticulture and floriculture. This year, the participating Andalusian companies come from Cádiz (Andalusian Cooperative Society Virgen del Rocío, Frusana and Sanchiflor), Cordoba (Continental Plants) and Seville ( FAECA and Las Marismas de Lebrija).
Andalusia accounts for 10% of Spain's land dedicated to ornamental plant cultivation, primarily located along the coast of Almería, Granada, and Málaga. One of the fastest-growing subsectors is cut flowers, representing over 55% of national production.
Furthermore, the region exported plants and flowers worth over €59,3 million in 2006, with the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, and Portugal as its main destination markets. Cádiz, with sales exceeding €31 million, is the province with the highest export volume.
